David Makoto Parks

Partner David Makoto Parks joined the firm in 2007 after working as a sole practioner in Ithaca. He has also worked as an assistant public defender and as an assistant district attorney. David's main areas of practice include civil and criminal litigation, real estate and related litigation, and criminal and family court appeals.

David is a member of the New York State and Tompkins County bar associations and is admitted to practice in New York State courts and in the Western and Northern Districts of New York (federal court). He currently represents Bank of America, Capital Mortgage Finance, and M&T Bank in residential real estate closings and also represents or has represented Wells Fargo Bank, GMAC Mortgage, and various other mortgage brokerage companies and direct lenders.

Some of David’s successful "Not Guilty" verdicts after a jury trial include negligent homicide, assault, arson, rape, grand larceny, and DWI cases. Some of David’s successful appeals to the Appellate Division Third and Fourth Departments include the following reversals: 1st degree gang assault; 2nd degree burglary; 2nd degree robbery; 1st degree gang assault and 2nd degree assault; 2nd degree vehicular assault; 1st degree sodomy; and several possession or sale of a controlled substance and DWI cases.
